About the internship
Melissa in De Nile, LLC is hiring for a Fall 2026 internship focused on research support for its educational Ancient Egypt content. The company creates social media videos and other media about Ancient Egyptian art, archaeology, and history across TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. It also publishes a Patreon podcast, Voices on De Nile, and streams on Twitch several times a week with historical games, guest lectures, and Egyptology-related talks.
Internship format and schedule
This is a virtual internship with check-ins every two weeks. The expected commitment is 5 hours per week for 12 weeks, approximately from September to November. The schedule is described as flexible around school and work commitments.
Compensation
The internship pays $1,200 total, delivered in two installments during the internship period.
Role summary
The intern will gather background research to support content for the Artifact Insight and Ask an Egyptologist video series, as well as episodes of the Voices on De Nile podcast. Research should be compiled as informal notes with proper sources included; it is not expected to be turned into scripts. Credit for the intern’s research will appear in video captions. With the intern’s consent, an introductory video about the intern may also be recorded and shared on the company’s platforms.
Responsibilities
- Research topics for selected Artifact Insight and Ask an Egyptologist content pieces
- Prepare research for upcoming Voices on De Nile podcast episodes
- Collect and share the source links used for each research assignment
- Pitch ideas for videos or podcast topics that fit the brand
- Touch base with Melissa every two weeks to review progress
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in History, Art History, Museum Studies, Archaeology, Anthropology, Library Services, or a closely related discipline
- Strong interest in the ancient world, especially Ancient Egypt
- Careful, accurate, and well-organized research habits
- Clear written and spoken communication skills
- Agreement not to use AI tools while conducting research
Preferred background
- Prior knowledge of Ancient Egypt
- Exposure to marketing or social media work
