Storage and Backup Expert

Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a skilled Storage and Backup Expert to manage and support enterprise storage and data protection systems, ensuring optimal availability, performance, security, and recovery for critical business applications. This role involves daily operational tasks, troubleshooting, optimization, and managing the lifecycle of multiple vendor storage and backup technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage enterprise storage systems including Dell Storage solutions (VMAX, PowerMax, Unity, NAS, Elastic Cloud Storage), IBM Flash Storage and Elastic Storage System, Pure Storage, and Huawei OceanStor.
• Handle storage tasks such as provisioning, zoning, masking, capacity planning, and performance tracking.
• Proactively monitor storage health to resolve any performance, availability, or capacity concerns to comply with SLAs.
• Conduct storage migrations, upgrades, firmware updates, and patch management.
• Support replication, snapshotting, and disaster recovery procedures in line with company policies.
• Operate and administer backup systems like Dell EMC NetWorker, PowerProtect Data Manager, and Data Domain.
• Manage backup schedules, retention, compliance, and resolve backup operation issues.
• Conduct restore operations, recovery tests, and assist with disaster recovery efforts.
• Serve as the senior escalation contact for storage and backup incidents and service requests.
• Perform root cause analyses to prevent problem recurrence and maintain process documentation.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call support for production environments as necessary.
• Collaborate with vendors for technical assistance and timely resolution of issues.
• Coordinate with UNIX/Linux, Windows, VMware, Cloud, and Application teams for storage and backup functions.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff members.
• Communicate operational status, incidents, and risk factors to stakeholders effectively.
• Identify, report, and track operational risks to ensure resolution.

Candidate Profile

• Proven hands-on experience with Dell Storage platforms (VMAX, PowerMax, Unity, NAS, ECS), IBM Flash Storage, IBM ESS, Pure Storage, and Huawei OceanStor.
• Expertise with Dell EMC NetWorker, PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM), and Data Domain backup solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of SAN/NAS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI protocols, multipathing, and storage networking concepts.
• Experience supporting storage environments for VMware, UNIX/Linux servers, and databases.
• Familiarity with replication, snapshot techniques, and disaster recovery operations.

Educational and Professional Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in Storage and Backup Administration within enterprise settings.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to independently manage responsibilities and handle critical production issues under pressure.
• Detail-oriented, proactive with a strong sense of ownership.
