Overview
AtkinsRéalis seeks an experienced Technical Director to lead technical aspects of large multidisciplinary projects, such as public venues, amphitheatres, cultural facilities, complex buildings, and long-span structures. This leader will provide strategic guidance throughout design and construction phases, heading multidisciplinary teams to overcome complex engineering challenges and ensure project success. Preference is for candidates experienced with stadiums, performance venues, and similar complex assembly buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and execution of complex multidisciplinary projects including complex buildings and long-span structures.
- Manage coordination of structural, architectural, MEP, infrastructure, acoustics, specialist systems, and venue operations.
- Oversee technical interfaces during design and construction stages to ensure integration and compliance.
- Provide strategic leadership by developing and implementing technical and operational strategies aligned with business goals and client needs.
- Promote technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across projects.
- Serve as the authoritative figure for engineering solutions, reviewing designs, enforcing governance, and ensuring safety and lifecycle value.
- Lead multidisciplinary design integration, manage relationships with consultants, contractors, and suppliers, and drive best practices in BIM and digital project delivery.
- Support project delivery from concept through handover, monitoring technical performance, schedules, risks, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Contribute to business development efforts, bidding, client engagement, and industry representation.
- Establish technical governance and risk mitigation strategies, ensuring quality and compliance while incorporating lessons learned.
- Mentor and lead multidisciplinary teams fostering collaboration, professional development, and succession planning.
- Act as senior client technical liaison, delivering workshops, presentations, and strategic advice to support client satisfaction and repeat business.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Building Services, Electrical, or related engineering; master's preferred.
- Professional registration such as PE, CEng, or equivalent is required.
- Possesses over 15 years of post-graduate experience including leadership of multidisciplinary design and construction teams.
- Extensive hands-on knowledge with complex buildings, public venues, cultural assets, amphitheatres, stadiums, and long-span structures.
- Strong capability in multidisciplinary coordination and resolving complex engineering challenges.
- Commercial acumen in project delivery, risk management, and change control.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
- Middle East regional experience is advantageous.
