Position Overview
The Technical Procurement Manager will spearhead the maritime procurement strategy for the company, enhancing procurement systems and ensuring cost-efficiency throughout the fleet's purchasing activities. The role encompasses managing supplier contracts, leading the Technical Purchasing team, and maintaining strict budget compliance. Serving as a strategic consultant to Technical and Marine Superintendents on commercial issues, the manager will collaborate closely with global category managers and procurement alliances.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a procurement strategy aligned with fleet needs and corporate goals to guarantee efficient and economical purchasing.
- Lead tender processes and negotiate prices and framework agreements with both national and international suppliers to secure favorable commercial terms.
- Analyze global market trends, discover emerging procurement markets, and nurture lasting supplier partnerships.
- Serve as the main contact for group representatives within the purchasing alliance to stay abreast of joint projects and market leverage options.
- Manage the contract system ensuring compliance and current documentation standards.
- Oversee high-priority purchasing categories such as Engines (Main & Auxiliary), Logistics, Warehousing, and Seastock items including paints, chemicals, and gases.
- Advise Technical and Marine Superintendents by providing commercial expertise and procurement guidance.
- Monitor and enforce procurement workflows and the use of authorized suppliers within the team.
- Lead preparation and implement strategic fleet inventory management.
- Supervise and mentor the Technical Purchasing team, balancing operational management with direct support.
- Set, evaluate, and report procurement KPIs quarterly to senior management.
- Collaborate with IT to continuously improve, document, and digitalize procurement processes and systems.
- Foster a culture focused on continuous improvement, proactively identifying cost-saving and efficiency opportunities.
