Overview
Oranga Tamariki is hiring permanent Allied Support Workers to strengthen operational support for frontline Social Work teams across Waikato. These roles are designed to provide dependable, ongoing assistance in response to continued service demand, while helping improve continuity and team capacity.
The work is focused on supporting the wellbeing of tamariki, rangatahi and whānau, and on enabling qualified Social Workers to concentrate on statutory duties and professional practice. This is a non-regulated position; it is not a Social Worker in training or a para-social worker role, and it does not involve social work casework or a caseload.
Role focus
Allied Support Workers assist Caregiver Recruitment and Support teams with recruitment activity, caregiver support, training coordination, placement assistance and a range of administrative tasks that contribute to positive outcomes for children, young people and their caregivers.

- Provide region-wide support based on operational priorities and service demand, which may include travel within the region and occasionally beyond it.
- Assist with caregiver engagement, community outreach and recruitment-related activity.
- Help organise caregiver training and contribute to learning and development initiatives.
- Support caregiver assessments, approvals, support plans and ongoing caregiver assistance.
- Contribute to placement and matching processes by gathering information, developing caregiver profiles and coordinating placements.
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with caregivers, whānau, community groups and internal teams.
- Be available to work outside standard business hours when required.
