About the Role
This position at NCAA focuses on providing comprehensive athletic training support within intercollegiate athletics. The Athletic Trainer will deliver a range of services including injury testing, evaluation, development of training programs, injury treatment, rehabilitation, and medical referrals to student athletes. Operating under physician guidance, the role demands coordinated care encompassing injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation both on campus and during games.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer injury prevention techniques using braces, appliances, and devices that aid joint motion control and limb protection.
- Collaborate with physical therapists on rehabilitation progress and strategize return-to-play plans for injured athletes.
- Prepare and maintain daily reports on injury status and progress, communicating updates to team physicians and coaching staff.
- Ensure compliance with established safety protocols and provide first aid support as necessary.
- Possibly conduct recreational program instruction.
- Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in managing, planning, and overseeing the athletic training program; serve as the lead in their absence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Athletic Training or related health disciplines such as biology, nutrition, or physical education.
- Minimum of two years experience as an athletic trainer at the high school or collegiate level.
- National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Certification along with valid First Aid, CPR, and AED training certifications.
- Active participation in NATA continuing education programs to maintain certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Athletic Training or a related health field.
- Over three years of collegiate-level athletic training experience.
- Experience conducting research or delivering lectures on athletic training or sports medicine topics.
- Opportunities to present as a subject matter expert at NATA conventions.
- Willingness to accompany injured athletes to medical facilities and travel with teams for sporting events.
