Role Overview
The organisation is looking for an experienced and committed Cleaning Supervisor to lead a cleaning team and maintain high standards of hygiene and presentation at a site in Hamilton, Waikato. This position suits someone who works well in a busy environment, pays close attention to detail, and takes pride in creating clean, safe, and welcoming spaces.
This is a part-time onsite role with shifts scheduled Monday to Friday, starting after 5:30 PM. The shift length is 1.5 hours per day.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, guide, and support a small group of cleaning staff.
- Plan tasks efficiently so deadlines and service level expectations are consistently achieved.
- Prioritise work effectively when operating under pressure.
- Allocate duties, carry out random quality checks, and confirm work has been completed properly.
- Provide coaching, direction, and on-the-job support to team members.
- Take an active role in daily cleaning activities at the site.
- Help the team meet client rotation requirements and KPI targets.
- Follow company procedures and safety requirements at all times.
- Look after cleaning equipment and make sure tools remain in usable condition.
- Handle client feedback and respond to requests in a professional manner.
- Manage rosters and arrange shift cover when needed.
- Assist with recruiting and onboarding new staff.
- Act quickly and appropriately in the event of accidents or hazards.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will have substantial hands-on cleaning experience, along with prior experience supervising or managing a team. Flexibility is important, as the role may involve night work and occasional weekend shifts depending on business needs.
A valid full driver’s licence is required, as travel may be necessary. Strong verbal and written communication skills, sound organisation, good time management, and the ability to manage clients effectively are also important.
The role calls for someone who can train and mentor staff, understands cleaning methods, materials, and equipment, and is familiar with health and safety practices. The ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, use basic computer and phone applications, verify certain requirements, and manage toolbox talks, rosters, and stock ordering is also expected.
