Data Engineer

Role Overview

Walaa Cooperative Insurance Co. is looking for a Data Engineer with solid experience in the INCORTA Data Warehouse Platform, data integration, ETL tools and workflows, and business intelligence. The role calls for a techno-functional professional who can work across teams, understand business needs, and build complete solutions that cover data ingestion, modelling, reporting, and visualization.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and support dependable ETL pipelines that move data from multiple sources into the INCORTA data warehouse.
• Track ETL performance and improve stability, speed, and scalability using established data-processing practices.
• Protect data quality and integrity by applying validation, cleansing, and transformation controls.
• Apply data governance and quality standards so that data remains accurate and aligned with organizational policies.
• Investigate ETL failures and data-quality problems, fix issues, and maintain clear technical records.
• Join business discussions to capture requirements and convert them into ETL, pipeline, and data-model specifications.
• Support configuration management and change-control practices.
• Coordinate with offshore teams and actively take part in scrum meetings.
• Work with data sources and modelling concepts to expand and improve the current data warehouse.
• Diagnose data defects and system performance bottlenecks.
• Work with normalized and star-schema physical designs as well as logical modelling concepts.
• Contribute throughout the full software development life cycle.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders and Business Data Stewards to understand requirements and deliver suitable solutions.
• Support the availability and performance of reports and dashboards used by internal and external users.
• Keep up with new trends and technologies in data engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional certifications in Data Engineering, ML Languages, BI, or Analytics are considered an advantage.
• At least 3 years of experience in data engineering or a related area.
• Hands-on background in ETL development, data engineering, or database administration.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, database design, and data warehousing.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Exposure to big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
• Experience with cloud environments such as GCP, AWS, Azure, or OCI.
• Understanding of software engineering principles and version control systems.
• Programming exposure in Python, R, Java, or Scala.
• Practical experience using Apache Spark or similar data-processing frameworks.
• Familiarity with data integration platforms such as INCORTA ETL, Informatica, Collibra, or DataSentinel.
• Ability to handle structured, semi-structured, and unstructured datasets.
• Experience implementing data security, protection, and compliance controls.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, able to manage multiple priorities, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
• Independent working style, initiative, a continuous-learning mindset, and high ethical standards.

This is a full-time onsite position based in Al Khobar, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. No salary, number of openings, start date, or application deadline was specified.
