Job Overview

ZestyAI is tackling the increasing threats posed by natural disasters through advanced data science and innovative data collection methods. Our mission is to improve understanding and preparedness for catastrophic events like storms and wildfires by providing enhanced risk insights. As a Data Scientist specializing in Analytics, you will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and machine learning teams to address complex challenges, evaluate product performance, and drive data-informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Convert questions from product management, engineering, and business into structured analytics strategies using statistical, experimental, and data science techniques to assess product success and guide decisions.
Maintain responsibility for the accuracy and quality of ZestyAI’s data products.
Lead the creation and management of product monitoring systems by designing dashboards and identifying key performance indicators (KPIs).
Build automated ETL pipelines and data workflows to support scalable operations.
Adapt quickly within a fast-paced, dynamic environment, iterating and improving analytics continuously.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Economics; a Master’s or Ph.D. is advantageous.
Between 2 to 3 years in analytics, data science, or related roles, including experience designing data pipelines, defining metrics, and developing dashboards.
Proven organizational skills with a track record of implementing best practices and structured processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of navigating ambiguous and cross-functional challenges.
Proficiency in SQL and in at least one programming language such as Python or R.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
Legal work eligibility in Canada is mandatory.

Preferred Expertise

1 to 2 years experience handling imagery and geospatial data.
Knowledge of modeling frameworks and performance measurement metrics.
Interest or experience in experimental design, causal inference, and applied statistics.
Familiarity with DBT and workflow orchestration tools like Prefect or Airflow.
Data visualization skills.
