The lab supports over 12,000 colleagues worldwide by delivering tailored data-driven insights across a wide spectrum of insurance products and services. Its primary goal is to extract meaningful understanding from data, aiding clients and partners in risk evaluation, forecasting outcomes, and making well-informed choices in a dynamic environment.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Visualisation Specialist to join our expanding team and influence how data is communicated and leveraged throughout the Ardonagh Group. The role centers on creating trusted, user-centric reporting tools that transform intricate business data into actionable insights, primarily utilizing Microsoft technologies such as Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and design intuitive, efficient Power BI dashboards tailored to business needs and stakeholder goals.
- Translate business requirements, metric definitions, and wireframes into engaging reporting solutions.
- Create effective visualisations, including drill-through features, filters, and navigation paths that facilitate data-informed decision-making.
- Adhere to UX/UI standards and branding guidelines to ensure uniformity across reports.
- Build and maintain robust semantic models within Power BI, developing and optimising DAX calculations, hierarchies, and metadata.
- Ensure outputs are accurate, scalable, and maintainable, employing best practices in performance and governance.
- Manage Microsoft Fabric and Power BI Service environments, including workspace administration, app deployment, semantic model refreshes, security setups such as Row-Level Security (RLS), and access control.
- Monitor and enhance dashboard performance and user experience, supporting testing and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and analytics teams to understand reporting requirements and deliver integrated solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for dashboards, semantic models, data sources, and user instructions.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards in a professional setting.
- Advanced skills in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, data modelling, DAX, Power Query, and semantic modelling.
- Expertise in complex SQL query writing, optimisation, view creation, data validation, and supporting dataset development.
- Solid understanding of data structures, dimensional modelling, and reporting frameworks.
- Proven ability to convert business needs into accessible reporting tools and manage multiple stakeholder expectations balancing delivery, enhancements, and routine support.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric environments including security, deployments, and semantic modelling.
- Background in insurance, financial services, or analytics-focused industries.
- Knowledge of how BI tools integrate with data engineering workflows and cloud data platforms.
