About the Role

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Document Controller to support our Power Transmission & Distribution division on the Tod Point Substation project located in Redcar, Cleveland. This position is fundamental in overseeing Design and Operational Document Control to ensure accurate handling and distribution of project information throughout its lifecycle.

The role entails administering project information within Common Data Environments (CDEs), aiding project teams, designers, subcontractors, and clients to access and comply with project information standards. This is primarily a site-based role; candidates should be able to commute reliably to Tod Point Substation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the project's Common Data Environment platforms including BIM 360 Docs, SharePoint, and client document management systems.
  • Maintain accurate control, upkeep, and dissemination of all project documentation in accordance with project protocols.
  • Create and sustain document workflows, registers, and enforce information governance standards.
  • Manage design and operational documents over the course of the entire project.
  • Assist project teams with preparing, submitting, and managing project information and deliverables.
  • Review and distribute information exchanges within the CDE, ensuring adherence to established processes.
  • Support the initial project setup in BIM 360, including folder organization, access permissions, and workflow configuration.
  • Maintain the Operational Master Document Register, ensuring its ongoing accuracy and currency.
  • Generate reports and support audits related to document control and information management activities.
  • Print and distribute construction drawings and project documentation as necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operational, commercial, and project management teams to guarantee effective information flow.
  • Provide training and guidance on document control systems and procedures to project stakeholders.
  • Champion collaborative work and best practices in managing project information.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a Document Controller or Document Management role within project settings.
  • Solid knowledge of document control principles, processes, and governance.
  • Experience managing controlled documents and maintaining document registers.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills enabling relationship-building across diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-directed work approach while supporting multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems.

  • Experience in Power, Utilities, Construction, Engineering, or Infrastructure industries.
  • Familiarity with BIM 360 Docs or comparable Common Data Environment tools.
