The platform offers a wide range of products, from rubber gym flooring and resistance bands to premium supplements across numerous brands. Utilizing Shopify Advanced, it manages a vast marketplace-style catalog with thousands of SKUs and is currently aiming for significant growth.
Role Overview
This position requires a seasoned ecommerce professional with experience managing or owning a category within a marketplace or a multi-brand retail environment with a large and complex product assortment (thousands of SKUs). The role extends beyond maintenance to full ownership of product content, content marketing, and comprehensive funnel analytics to guide leadership priorities through data-driven business cases.
The ideal candidate is adept at leveraging AI technologies, specifically Claude, to enhance content generation and analytical productivity, forming an integral part of their operational approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Fully manage product content across thousands of SKUs including product descriptions, imagery guidance, specifications, comparison content, and merchandising presentation.
- Oversee the blog and content calendar by producing buyer's guides, category-related content, and SEO-optimized articles adhering to established standards.
- Conduct comprehensive funnel analyses from landing pages through cart and checkout stages to identify and resolve revenue leaks promptly and independently.
- Develop prioritized business cases detailing what improvements to target, their expected impact, and justification supported by data.
- Lead category and store merchandising efforts, including collection strategy, cross-selling, upselling placements, and planning for seasonal or promotional events.
- Provide regular, insightful reports to leadership highlighting effective strategies, challenges, and decision points with clear recommendations.
- Proactively identify content and merchandising gaps through thorough audience understanding before they become apparent in performance data.
- Manage day-to-day operation of key ecommerce applications such as Klaviyo (email/SMS), Recharge (subscriptions), Judge.me (reviews and user-generated content), wishlist features, delivery estimate tools, and SEO/schema plugins.
- Utilize Shopify Advanced reporting tools and ShopifyQL for granular tracking of SKU and category performance beyond the overall store metrics.
- Incorporate AI tools like Claude extensively within content creation and data analysis workflows to increase efficiency.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum three years of ecommerce operational management experience in marketplaces or multi-brand retail environments with extensive SKU catalogs.
- Proven track record in owning large-scale product content operations involving hundreds to thousands of product listings.
- Strong analytical ability to evaluate full funnel performance and distinguish among traffic, content, or conversion issues for effective prioritization.
- Capability to build convincing business cases translating analytics into prioritized actions with quantifiable benefits.
- Hands-on familiarity and practical use of AI tools, especially Claude, integrated into content production and performance analysis.
- Keen merchandising sense with insight into product placement, bundling, and promotion strategies.
- Exceptional written communication skills to deliver persuasive leadership reporting.
- Must be U.S.-based and able to operate during U.S. business hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in ecommerce within health, fitness, or wellness sectors.
- Knowledge of rubber flooring, home gym equipment, or supplementation products.
- Background managing dropshipping or multi-vendor fulfillment operations.
- Basic understanding of paid media platforms such as Google Shopping and Meta advertising, mainly to facilitate collaboration with marketing teams.
- Experience specifically with Shopify Plus or Advanced editions.
