Role Overview
We are seeking a commercially astute and technically adept Engineering Manager to lead our Enterprise Solutions team, which supports our premier Class A and Premium merchants. In this hands-on leadership position, you will oversee engineers responsible for designing, building, and delivering custom enterprise-level services ranging from bespoke themes to intricate system integrations. You will serve as the crucial link between technical delivery teams and senior client management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of solutions engineers and technical leads by recruiting, mentoring, and fostering a culture of high performance with clear goals and consistent feedback.
- Coordinate on-demand technical squads assembled from other engineering departments to meet specialized project needs, managing team capacity across multiple concurrent enterprise engagements.
- Define and uphold rigorous engineering standards to ensure custom projects are scalable, maintainable, and consistent with the core platform architecture.
- Contribute insights to refine the premium technical services catalog including custom development, consultancy, and dedicated support.
- Oversee the technical execution of premium contracts by managing scoping, estimating, and delivering bespoke themes and specialized API integrations.
- Monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) related to custom deliverables, tracking milestones, quality, and billing triggers to maintain profitability and client satisfaction.
- Act as a senior technical liaison for premium accounts by translating complex business requirements into precise engineering tasks.
- Lead technical efforts for onboarding new Class A merchants to ensure rapid and smooth deployment including data migrations, ERP integrations, and store setups.
- Serve as the central coordinator among merchants, engineering teams, and customer support to proactively resolve technical blockers affecting onboarding schedules.
- Manage dynamic resource allocation to form temporary cross-functional teams for urgent onboarding challenges of key accounts.
- Create engineering frameworks that facilitate scalable custom solution delivery for global brands without generating technical debt, while preserving regional customizations compatible with the global platform.
- Support the localization of enterprise services for international markets, ensuring integrations with regional ERP systems and adherence to local data governance and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with Sales during pre-sales for high-value prospects to assess technical feasibility and help scope potential contracts.
- Ensure top quality delivery fosters client loyalty and retention, driving future upsell and long-term partnership opportunities.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in Solutions Engineering, Software Engineering, or Professional Services, with at least 2 years managing engineering or technical delivery teams serving Enterprise or B2B clients.
- Strong technical knowledge of e-commerce architectures including Headless and API-first approaches, integrations with ERP and CRM systems, and web technologies. Ability to communicate fluently with both engineering teams and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated track record managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders under strict deadlines and commercial contracts.
- Proven leadership competency in hiring, developing, and retaining engineers in client-facing delivery environments.
- Exceptional communication skills to manage client expectations and effectively resolve critical technical situations.
