Role Overview
The General Operative position at Eurofins' Dungarvan site involves supporting the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and Facilities teams in maintaining two main buildings plus grounds, utilities, support areas, and safety systems. This role ensures all site facilities are kept clean, orderly, safe, and ready for audits, contributing to smooth site operations.
Working Hours
This is a full-time role based on a 39-hour workweek. The schedule includes 9:30 AM to 5:45 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; and 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM on Wednesdays. One week out of every four follows this schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with relocating materials, equipment, and furniture as required by EHS, maintenance, and housekeeping teams.
- Provide support during building emergencies and respond to alarms or site incidents when prearranged.
- Contribute to routine preventative maintenance and general upkeep aligned with training and protocols.
- Maintain buildings and support areas by performing minor repairs including ceiling tile replacement, plaster patching, painting, and other authorized help desk tasks.
- Manage site water systems, including consumable supplies, alarm responses, and coordinating maintenance vendors.
- Ensure that plant rooms, storage, and support facilities remain clean, secure, organized, and compliant with audit standards.
- Support site security by managing access systems, securing plant rooms, outbuildings, and stores properly.
- Assist pest control measures and facilitate approved vendor visits as per company policies.
- Support inspections and maintenance of electrical safety and firefighting equipment.
- Coordinate with external vendors for grounds maintenance and upkeep of car parks, utilities, and outdoor areas.
- Conduct assigned safety inspections such as checking gas compounds, spill kits, and emergency showers after training.
- Participate actively in safety and compliance programs including training on manual handling and workstation assessments.
- Identify and recommend improvements to facility operations and assist in rolling out continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere strictly to company standards for safety, quality, housekeeping, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and site protocols.
- Perform cleaning and sanitization tasks as operational needs dictate.
- Engage in site safety teams, including Fire Warden, Spill Response, and Waste Management groups.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in a regulated environment such as GMP production, laboratories, or facilities maintenance is preferred.
- Background in facilities support, general operative duties, maintenance, or site services is desirable.
- A full, clean driving license is compulsory; forklift or equivalent materials handling certification is advantageous.
- Proficient with computers, especially Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational abilities with capability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- High attention to detail and dedication to maintaining excellent housekeeping and site presentation standards.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take responsibility for tasks.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.
- Dependability, flexibility, and readiness to adapt to changing business requirements.
