Role Overview

This Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), reporting to the Director of Human Resources and based in Toronto, ON, plays a strategic advisory role to leaders to provide holistic HR support throughout the employee lifecycle. This role emphasizes workforce planning, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, compliance with employment laws, and alignment with company policies and best practices. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days onsite and two days remote (subject to change).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Advise leaders on employee relations including performance management, conflict resolution, investigations, and terminations.
  • Establish strong relationships as a trusted advisor and coach on people strategies and initiatives.
  • Implement and support talent programs such as talent reviews, succession planning, performance management, and engagement efforts.
  • Lead organizational change activities including restructures and workforce transitions while ensuring legal compliance.
  • Deliver coaching on employee relations grounded in employment laws and best practices.
  • Support communication and change management strategies to facilitate business transformations effectively.
  • Utilize data and insights to guide talent decisions and enhance organizational performance.

  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and business leaders to support recruitment processes.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible HR experience, including employee relations and business partner roles.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Solid understanding of employment legislation and employee relations practices.
  • Exposure to unionized work settings is a plus.
  • Experience with Technology sector clients considered beneficial.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation, or progressing towards one, is preferred.

  • Sound judgment and ability to manage complex employee situations effectively.
