Instrument Engineer

Job Overview

The Instrument & Control Engineer position in Doha, Qatar, involves delivering technical engineering support to uphold the safe operation and upkeep of offshore instrumentation and control equipment, adhering rigorously to company policies and procedures. This role supports departmental goals aligned with the wider corporate strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for instrumentation and control systems covering offshore operations, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting level 2 issues, and reliability-based work system (RBWS) activities following established maintenance plans.
• Support engineering management of change (eMOC) by conducting studies, feasibility evaluations, and implementing approved technical recommendations to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Engage in developing equipment strategies and conducting analyses such as Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Risk Screening, Formal Risk Assessments (FRA), and Bad Actor reviews to meet operational requirements.
• Collaborate with offshore maintenance teams, workshops, engineering, and project management to ensure timely closure and continuous improvement of maintenance processes.
• Evaluate technical materials for procurement to guarantee suitability and quality meet project and maintenance needs, including routine and shutdown activities.
• Assist in demand planning for contract activities and contribute to defining scopes for complex Instrument & Control maintenance contracts and related post-award functions.
• Monitor the obsolescence of instrumentation equipment and spare parts to support ongoing operational reliability and minimize risk.
• Implement and adhere to Instrument & Control maintenance procedures ensuring compliance with maintenance standards.
• Participate in maintenance quality verification to uphold compliant and secure operation of systems.
• Effectively use maintenance and management control systems to support compliance with business processes and reporting requirements.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science majoring in Instrumentation, Control Systems Engineering, or related fields.
• At least 4 years of engineering experience in Instrumentation & Control Systems within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or equivalent process industries.
• Competent computer skills with a range of engineering software tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Experience with SAP Maintenance and Material Management (SAP MM) systems.
• Capability in preparing and reviewing scopes of work for maintenance and managing external service contracts.
