Role Overview

We seek a mid-level interior designer to join a dynamic team focused primarily on hospitality and retail projects. The position involves collaborating with designers, architects, consultants, and stakeholders to interpret client briefs and translate them into appealing, feasible design concepts through visualization, detailing, and documentation.

The ideal candidate is design-driven, detail-oriented, inquisitive about their environment, eager to acquire new skills, and adept at expressing and recording ideas clearly. Enthusiasm, a proactive attitude, and a straightforward communication style are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in concept creation, insight collection, and idea generation.
• Assist senior designers with comprehensive tender and construction documentation using CAD software, specifically VectorWorks.
• Prepare polished presentation packages using Photoshop, PowerPoint, and Google Suite tools.
• Research, source, and specify products.
• Compile and organize FF&E for physical displays and scheduling purposes.
• Engage confidently with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
• Coordinate site activities, including surveys, visits, supervision, and report defect inspections and meeting notes.
• Contribute to pitch decks, workshops, audits, and trend analysis.
• Attend client meetings, site visits, and design presentations.
• Conduct research on materials, finishes, and current design trends.
• Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and team members to ensure project success.
• Assist in creating mood boards and sample boards in both physical and digital formats.
• Support project scheduling and ensure that deadlines are consistently met.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• At least 4 years of professional experience in design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related discipline.
• Advanced proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, with a readiness to transition to VectorWorks.
• Strong skills in Photoshop and Illustrator within the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Competency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
• Experience with SketchUp is advantageous.
• Comfortable participating in virtual meetings using platforms like Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet.
• Aspirations to develop skills in areas such as visual identity, strategic research, and social media engagement.
• Confident communication with clients and vendors.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Technical expertise to develop detailed designs through to construction documentation.
• Familiarity with Australian building codes and standards.
• Valid work visa for Australia.
