Junior Interior Designer

Overview

Kelly Deck Design is seeking a Junior Interior Designer to join its close-knit Vancouver studio in a full-time, permanent, on-site position. This role is central to the team: as the only junior designer, you will provide the technical and design support that intermediate and senior designers depend on to keep projects progressing smoothly and accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on technical and project support to intermediate and senior designers throughout all stages of a project.
• Create accurate AutoCAD drawings and strong SketchUp models and renderings.
• Maintain the sample library, including organization, updates, and attractive presentation of materials.
• Help source products and coordinate procurement, and support deliveries and pick-ups when needed.
• Collaborate with the furnishings team on fabric and furnishing selections for selected projects.
• Be present for all installations and help ensure the design is executed on site with care and precision.
• Assist with photoshoots by setting up spaces, styling them, and preparing them for camera readiness.
• Adjust smoothly to the pace of installation schedules, including occasional flexibility around working hours during important project phases.

Working Conditions

• Primarily office-based work.
• Work location is Vancouver, British Columbia, with one work-from-home day per week.
• Evening or weekend availability may occasionally be required for installations and photoshoots.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of professional experience in interior design.
• Strong day-to-day proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp.
• A diploma or degree in Interior Design.
• Comfort using AI tools and interest in how emerging technology can improve design thinking and studio workflows.
• Sharp attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent organizational ability and a calm approach to managing multiple moving parts.
• Resourcefulness, foresight, and the ability to anticipate needs before they are stated.
• Clear, honest, and thoughtful communication with colleagues and clients.

Compensation

The annual salary for this role is CAD 55,000 to CAD 65,000, depending on experience.
