About This Role
Wells Fargo is looking to hire a Lead Systems Operations Engineer within the Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology team. The role primarily involves leading first response (F1) efforts during technology incidents and events impacting CCIBT, focusing on rapid detection, effective coordination, clear communication, and disciplined management through incidents, major events, and other critical operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage proactively with major incident management including triage, stakeholder communication, and recovery efforts while ensuring seamless handover to Problem Management.
- Facilitate timely involvement of platform, infrastructure, and application teams to restore service promptly.
- Accurately log, update, and hand over incidents across shifts using established tools and processes.
- Coordinate major incidents and planned or unplanned events such as business continuity exercises and data center operations.
- Lead or support war rooms and command bridges to ensure well-organized execution, defined roles, and structured communication.
- Monitor key milestones, risks, and readiness of applications during events, raising and managing issues via standard procedures.
- Maintain precise event status tracking and document outcomes and challenges comprehensively.
- Communicate clearly and promptly with all stakeholders including senior leadership and executives during incidents and events.
- Generate and disseminate incident notifications, updates, and summaries through approved communication channels.
- Identify and suggest enhancements in incident detection, response, automation, and tooling efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture, or similar roles, demonstrated through work, training, military, or education.
- Strong background in IT Incident and Event Management in enterprise settings.
- Ability to remain composed and make sound decisions under pressure and highly visible circumstances.
- Effective communication skills, including ability to provide updates to executives.
- Solid knowledge of ITIL frameworks covering Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Hands-on experience using ServiceNow or equivalent IT Service Management platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in supporting major events, business continuity, disaster recovery exercises, or market-critical activities.
- Knowledge of follow-the-sun operational models.
- Familiarity with Reliability Engineering concepts, service level objectives (SLOs), and automation-driven operations.
- Experience within banking, financial services, or regulated technology industries.
