Role Overview
We seek a proactive Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering and Maintenance team at the Chuntoh Ghuna Facility in Prince George, BC. This role involves enhancing equipment performance and plant reliability through capital project development and execution, including design, construction, commissioning, and testing. The engineer will also monitor equipment performance and support maintenance and reliability systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects focused on designing or redesigning equipment and systems considering materials, regulations, constructability, maintenance needs, operator input, and environmental factors.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors to resolve mechanical design and operational issues for existing plant equipment.
- Assist Procurement by specifying requirements for new equipment purchases.
- Plan and oversee projects, prepare material selections, cost and schedule estimates, reports, and design documents for machinery and systems.
- Draft contractual documents and evaluate industrial construction or maintenance tenders.
- Manage and supervise contractors involved in mechanical system installation and inspections.
- Provide technical and engineering support related to mechanical systems for Operations and Maintenance teams.
- Analyze performance and vibration data for site mechanical systems and infrastructure.
- Develop maintenance standards, schedules, and programs alongside Operations and Maintenance.
- Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance challenges.
- Offer daily operational support to optimize plant performance.
- Mentor team members and share technical knowledge to support professional growth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration or eligibility with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
- 4 to 8 years of relevant industrial experience focusing on capital project lifecycle management from concept through commissioning.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving abilities for technical issues.
- Knowledge of materials engineering is advantageous.
- Experience with multi-disciplinary engineering environments.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong analytical capabilities.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range between $110,000 and $125,000, commensurate with experience and skills.
