Network Designer

About the Role

Electra Ltd is seeking a Network Designer to join their Network Design and Engineering Team based in Paraparaumu or Levin, Wellington, New Zealand. This role involves a broad range of tactical engineering responsibilities including network design, technical and quality assurance, and onsite work. As part of a focused and agile team, you will contribute to refining design standards and workflows that support asset management and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing distribution network projects across 11kV, 33kV, and 400V systems, involving both overhead and underground components.
• Providing technical support and advice to Service Delivery for network and customer-initiated projects.
• Securing necessary approvals, consents, and permissions related to design implementations.
• Participating in the ongoing development and enhancement of network standards and specifications.
• Collaborating with consultants and contractors to ensure designs are effective and practical.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate may come from a field background wanting to transition into design or from a consultancy or contractor background seeking expanded decision-making responsibilities. You bring experience or exposure to overhead and underground electricity distribution projects along with a passion for innovative problem-solving and continuous process improvement. Effective communication skills and enthusiasm to adopt new technologies and software are essential.
