Role Overview
The Digital Process Engineer is entrusted with upholding the digital standards within the factory, overseeing deployment, maintenance, and innovation of digital use cases. Their efforts directly enhance factory performance across parameters such as productivity (minimizing production losses), quality, safety, and cost efficiency, all aligned with improving the Factory Scorecard and Digital Transformation Index.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation and upkeep of digital use cases involving data capture from field instruments, data analysis, prediction, and liaison with departments for issue resolution.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentorship on digital tools and solutions to leaders and operators.
- Utilize expertise in instrumentation including field instruments (temperature, pressure, flow), APC, PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, VFDs; understand P&IDs and network architectures.
- Engage with robotics and collaborative robots (cobots) where applicable.
- Apply data analysis and visualization skills using advanced Excel, Power BI, Power Apps (Power Automate), SQL, and KQL.
- Maintain basic understanding of cybersecurity focusing on IT-OT integration, factory LAN networks, and firewalls.
- Demonstrate personal leadership in driving engineering improvements, clear communication, and logical problem-solving using digital techniques.
- Foster team leadership by supporting and motivating factory teams to focus on objectives through digital solutions.
- Identify, prioritize, and solve problems with suitable digital tools ensuring elimination of recurring issues.
Additional Expertise and Knowledge
- Preferred familiarity with predictive data tools and artificial intelligence concepts, including machine learning methods such as linear regression, logistic regression, supervised and unsupervised learning, decision trees, and random forests.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (B.Tech).
- 5 to 6 years of relevant industrial experience.
- Strong foundation in electrical and instrumentation engineering.
- Experience working collaboratively within manufacturing teams.
- Preferred experience implementing digital tools to improve productivity, quality, and safety in factory environments.
- Experience in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector is advantageous.
- Familiarity with project management practices and participation in project teams is desirable.
