Role overview
This opportunity is with a global aviation services organization that operates across several regions and has a growing footprint in Africa. The business works in a tightly regulated, high-pressure environment, supporting complex operations across multiple sites and partnering with both local and international leadership.
The company is looking to strengthen its procurement function in Kenya and bring on board an experienced procurement professional to oversee local purchasing activities. The role sits in Nairobi County, at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, and is an on-site position.
The selected professional will take full responsibility for end-to-end procurement for Kenya operations. While group-level procurement handles strategic sourcing for the wider organization, this role owns all local procurement categories and must balance cost control, compliance, and smooth operational support. It is suited to someone practical, commercially minded, and able to connect local business needs with global procurement standards.
Responsibilities
- Own the complete procurement process for locally sourced goods and services, from demand initiation through to contract finalization.
- Create and implement local sourcing approaches that support wider company objectives.
- Work closely with teams in Operations, Technical, Finance, HR, IT, and Facilities to understand requirements and keep business activities running smoothly.
- Coordinate with the Group Global Procurement team on policy alignment, sourcing plans, compliance matters, reporting, and supplier performance.
- Manage sourcing exercises, supplier evaluation, negotiations, contract administration, and ongoing vendor performance across multiple categories.
- Handle procurement for operational rentals and services, such as vehicles, rental cars, outsourced manpower, and general support services.
- Oversee procurement for technical and maintenance-related items, including machinery, tools, vehicle parts and spares, tires, lubricants, batteries, wheelchairs, and related services.
- Support purchasing for administrative goods and facility-related needs such as cleaning, security, consumables, stationery, pantry supplies, printing, renovations, refurbishments, periodic maintenance, transportation, insurance, uniforms, PPE, and other administrative materials.
- Drive initiatives that reduce costs and improve procurement efficiency over time.
- Prepare spend analysis, procurement reports, and cost-saving updates for management.
- Ensure all procurement activity follows company policy and aviation industry requirements.
- Promote ethical sourcing, transparency, and sound governance across the procurement function.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Advanced command of English.
- Prior experience in multinational and cross-cultural working environments.
- 4 to 5 years of procurement experience, ideally in aviation, logistics, industrial operations, or a similar sector.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation capability.
- Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Proven experience managing several procurement categories, including technical, administrative, and services-related purchases.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
- Capacity to work independently in a fast-moving operational setting.
- Experience using procurement systems and ERP platforms; knowledge of SAP MM is a distinct advantage.
