About Common Mission Project (CMP)

CMP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to building education and innovation infrastructure focused on pivotal national interest areas including national security, diplomacy, maritime, civic engagement, and STEM. The organization empowers students, educators, and universities to tackle challenging issues by fostering venture creation, methodologies, and practical solutions.

CMP provides educator certification, program methodologies, and due diligence systems that turn student inquiries into validated discoveries and launch emerging founders as national interest entrepreneurs. The organization has certified educators at over 80 universities, distributed more than $1 million in its Innovation Fund to student teams, and hosts senior gatherings like Red Queen and the NSIE Summit involving military, academic, governmental, and venture leaders. Funded by federal contracts and various philanthropic and research partnerships, CMP is growing as a partner for universities, federal agencies, and innovation ecosystems.

Position Overview

The Program Manager role centers on overseeing CMP's flagship initiative, Hacking for Defense, and other national programs, ensuring seamless end-to-end operations. This position is heavily operational, responsible for maintaining weekly and monthly contract reporting, managing primary contractor relationships, and supporting educators to maintain a fully resourced and ready network of universities. This position ensures programs run consistently on schedule and according to contractual obligations without requiring constant senior leadership intervention.

The ideal candidate brings deep familiarity with experiential entrepreneurship curriculum, particularly those grounded in Lean methodology, and has significant experience running multiple cohorts or university-based programs. This role requires active interaction with educators and students weekly, with an ability to combine operational leadership with educational insight.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the operational rhythm of programs across the university network, including semester planning, milestones, and performance tracking.
Produce and maintain weekly and monthly contract tracker reports aligned with federal contract requirements, ensuring audit readiness.
Steer the relationship with the prime contractor, coordinating deliverables and information flow.
Support educators by providing onboarding, preparation materials, and responsiveness to their needs.
Coordinate professional development initiatives and educator forums alongside education leadership to maintain educator training tiers.
Monitor and assess educator readiness and impact using established frameworks to ensure teaching quality and continuous improvement.
Ensure that program delivery aligns faithfully with curriculum designs and identify needed curriculum updates with research partners.
Collaborate within CMP's network and program teams to maintain updated status and integrate with events, partnerships, and student initiatives.

First 90 Days Milestones

Days 1-30: Establish operational command over programs, set up contract reporting, build relationships with contractors, and produce a program delivery assessment.
Days 31-60: Maintain smooth program delivery rhythm with timely reporting and educator support and deliver onboarding/preparation resources.
Days 61-90: Implement operational improvements such as automation or workflow enhancements, produce an educator impact report, and present a plan for next-semester operations.

Qualifications

At least 5 years of program management or operations experience including delivery scheduling, partner coordination, and reporting.
Direct experience managing entrepreneurship education programs using Lean methodologies at university or high school level.
Consistent, hands-on engagement with educators and students, beyond administrative duties.
Demonstrated capacity to oversee multiple simultaneous program cohorts or sites.
Experience with federal contract reporting and managing subcontractor or partner relationships within such frameworks.
Strong organizational skills with disciplined use of trackers, dashboards, and documentation accessible to teams.
Professional and clear communication skills with varied stakeholders.
Availability to work full time during Eastern time business hours with proactive communication standards.

Additional Information

Bachelor's degree required.
U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to the nature of the work.
Salary range: $85,000 to $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

The position is remote but travel for educator events and team gatherings is expected.
