Project Engineer - Development Engineering

Overview

Rolls-Royce is seeking a full-time Project Engineer specializing in Development Engineering at their Indianapolis, IN location. Role Summary

The Project Engineer will work within a cross-functional team responsible for accomplishing engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) goals related to propulsion system components. This involves planning, executing, and managing technical projects while overseeing budget and schedule adherence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across manufacturing, quality, engineering, and purchasing to meet project delivery timelines.
• Manage project cost accounts, integrated schedules, earned value metrics, risk factors, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive multi-disciplinary task completion in line with applicable standards, processes, and regulations.
• Guide global teams in developing component and system-level technical solutions.
• Plan and organize complex design, analysis, and hardware procurement activities ensuring compliance with technical requirements.
• Oversee subcontractors associated with LiftSystem components to ensure hardware and subsystem deliveries align with IPT Leader directives.
• Report progress and technical/business outcomes of assigned projects.
• Effectively communicate complex aero-mechanical project details to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 2+ years of design or manufacturing engineering experience, or
• Master's degree in Engineering with no experience requirement, or
• PhD in Engineering with no experience requirement.
• US Citizenship required to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Preferred Skills

• Technical expertise in turbo-machinery, gas turbine engines, and mechanical systems.
• Training in project management methods, requirements management, systems engineering, and verification.
• Familiarity with Process Management like APQP and manufacturing processes such as Fixed Process Approval and FAIR.
• Certification in PMP and/or Six Sigma Green Belt is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers an annual salary range from $94,160 to $153,010.
