Role Overview

Based at the Auckland site and reporting to the QA Laboratory Manager, the Quality Assurance Technologist supports the site's quality and food safety initiatives. This role involves collaborating with production and cross-functional teams to guarantee that raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality benchmarks. The position also contributes to continuous enhancements in quality systems and food safety practices across the operations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform product testing to facilitate the timely approval of raw materials and finished products.
• Administer and uphold the Environmental Monitoring Program to maintain compliance with food safety standards.
• Assist in site hygiene and sanitation efforts by conducting routine inspections, monitoring, and verifications.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at elevating product quality, food safety, and overall operations.
• Help implement and sustain HACCP and related risk assessment protocols.
• Maintain and enhance Quality Management Systems ensuring alignment with Kerry’s global standards, customer needs, regulatory mandates, and GFSI-recognized certifications.
• Support document control activities including creation, review, and upkeep of quality manuals, work instructions, and training materials.
• Manage quality data and activities within Intelex and SAP systems ensuring accuracy and proper reporting.
• Engage in internal, client, and third-party audits by aiding in preparation, execution, and follow-up processes.
• Contribute to complaint investigations, manage internal non-conformance issues, conduct root cause analyses, and oversee corrective actions.
• Perform additional quality assurance and laboratory functions as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Degree or diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, or a comparable field.
• Between 3 and 5 years’ experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, quality assurance, or food safety roles.
• Comprehensive understanding of HACCP principles and food safety management frameworks.
• Familiarity with industry standards and certifications such as GMP, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, and ISO 22000.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities combined with a keen eye for detail.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with multiple departments.
• Competence with Microsoft Office applications as well as Windows-based software.
• Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems is preferable.
• Demonstrated proactive attitude towards continuous quality and food safety improvement.
