Role Overview
The Relationship Associate supports Relationship Managers by simplifying banking for customers through financial analysis and providing tailored customer solutions. This fixed-term 12-month full-time role based in Palmerston North offers growth opportunities to learn credit and relationship management skills. Within a year, incumbents may gain authority over a small Credit Approved Delegation (CAD) and manage multiple accounts under senior management discretion. The position suits emerging professionals aiming to transition into Relationship Management.
Daily Responsibilities
- Analyze customer portfolios to understand their financial metrics, goals, challenges, and value propositions.
- Enhance ANZ’s profile by developing an understanding of customers' industries and their markets.
- Build effective relationships and collaborate across business units within ANZ.
- Partner with Relationship and Senior Managers as well as product teams to develop and implement customer solutions and resolve issues.
- Maintain compliance with banking standards and ensure operational excellence.
- Conduct financial analysis and interpret customer data to support accurate credit decisions.
- Stay fully informed of the bank’s credit policies to facilitate appropriate decision-making.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong financial literacy with analytical and commercial business acumen.
- Ability to interpret financial trends and assess their implications.
- Experience in building strong customer relationships through service or customer experience roles.
- Understanding of security structuring in finance.
- Banking industry experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Preferably holds a degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent qualification.
