About the Role
Gritter Francona is seeking a Scriptwriter to create well-researched and compelling scripts for animated educational videos that support the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) National Center for PTSD. This position involves transforming scientific research, clinical protocols, and expert insights into clear, accurate, and accessible narratives. These scripts aim to educate veterans, trauma survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and the general public on trauma, PTSD, evidence-based treatments, and related conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and draft, edit, and refine scripts for animated educational content focused on trauma, PTSD, effective treatments, and comorbidities.
- Convert complex scientific literature, clinical guidelines, and technical data into straightforward and engaging scripts using plain language suitable for public audiences.
- Craft storylines, dialogues, narration, scene descriptions, and visual prompts that present educational material effectively and maintain viewer interest.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, clinicians, project managers, government stakeholders, and production personnel to ensure scripts accurately represent up-to-date clinical evidence and approved treatment recommendations.
- Maintain a tone that is serious, compassionate, hopeful, and encourages engagement with treatment while avoiding stigmatization or triggering content.
- Create culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and inclusive scripts that respect diverse experiences and populations.
- Incorporate feedback from government and stakeholders during iterative review and approval processes.
- Coordinate with storyboard artists, animators, voice-over artists, and production teams to align scripts with visual storytelling and animation requirements.
- Structure scripts with appropriate timing, pacing, narration, and transitions for animation formats.
- Prepare supporting materials such as production notes, script revisions, and version control documentation as needed.
- Ensure compliance with federal plain language guidelines, accessibility standards, and quality benchmarks.
- Contribute to educational outreach by developing content adapted for digital media, public awareness campaigns, and various communication platforms.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Creative Writing, Media Studies, Public Health, or a related field.
- At least three years of professional experience in writing scripts or educational content aligned with the task requirements.
- Proven ability to produce scripts for videos, animations, multimedia, or other educational communication formats.
