About Pax and the Role

Pax is revolutionizing the global trade and import-export industry through cutting-edge AI solutions. Despite being a critical sector, global trade's software infrastructure has lagged behind. Pax offers an AI-driven control tower designed to streamline trade compliance for major enterprises like Verkada, Glossier, Yamaha, and Kodak. The platform focuses on recovering unclaimed tariffs—an opportunity worth $10 billion annually—and continuously evolving its suite of products to cover customs compliance comprehensively.

Key Products

Duty drawback recovery: reclaim tariffs paid on goods that are subsequently exported, returned, or destroyed (currently live).
IEEPA and reciprocal tariff recovery: capture refunds on new reciprocal tariffs (deployed).
Entry and export auditing: AI-powered audit agents evaluate every customs entry line to identify errors pre-CBP submission (shipping now).
Further growth initiatives on the roadmap to build a full operational control tower.

Responsibilities

Lead feature development end-to-end, including API creation, backend logic, and frontend user interface.
Create tools that simplify complex regulatory requirements into user-friendly experiences.
Collaborate directly with customers to prioritize impactful solutions and accelerate delivery.
Develop applications incorporating large language models (LLMs) to address practical trade challenges.

First 90 Days Milestones

Week 1: Deliver a production-ready feature.
Within 30 days: Complete an agentic LLM-driven project alongside a company founder.
By 60 days: Independently take full ownership of a specific vertical from specification to release.
At 90 days: Engage enterprise clients directly to integrate feedback and evolve products live.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Demonstrable experience building and releasing software projects—whether personal repositories, side projects, or professional work.
Strong backend development expertise paired with a keen sense for polished user interfaces.
Enthusiasm for learning and applying LLMs to real-world problems, regardless of prior direct experience.
Sound judgment balancing speed versus quality and navigating ambiguity typical in early-stage ventures.
Self-starting attitude with the ability to deliver meaningful outcomes beyond just coding tasks.
Practical experience with technologies such as React, Next.js, FastAPI, SQLModel, and Postgres.
