Overview
The Warehouse Supervisor plays a pivotal role in coordinating with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless warehouse operations within the factory premises.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily warehousing and logistics functions at the Pune manufacturing facility and associated subcontractor locations.
- Lead and manage a team overseeing warehouse receiving and delivery procedures to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Handle warehouse stock related to spares and components efficiently under individual oversight.
- Foster teamwork motivation and organization to consistently achieve productivity goals.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and integrity at levels defined by the company to prevent discrepancies.
- Ensure zero variance in stock by closely monitoring inventory across the factory region.
- Keep ERP/SAP and Warehouse Management System (WMS XL) data synchronized with actual physical transactions in real time.
- Generate stock reports and key performance indicators daily, weekly, and monthly, coupled with action plans for improvements.
- Administer cycle counts to sustain accurate perpetual inventory and highlight areas for inventory quality enhancement.
- Ensure timely completion of Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs) by the team and escalate any issues promptly.
- Regularly update shipment and transit statuses to maintain transparency for customers.
- Provide departmental support including Stock Transfer Orders (STO) and Goods Issue (GI) invoice processing.
- Manage the issuance of waybills and maintain in/out movement registers for materials.
- Coordinate upkeep and maintenance of the kitting facility.
- Collaborate with material planning and procurement teams to plan future capacity requirements.
- Supervise the planned maintenance of warehouse equipment.
- Develop and enforce operational procedures aligned with company policies and regulations.
- Drive the adoption of productivity tools such as WMS and barcoding systems with regional and functional support.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives towards enhanced EHS standards, increased productivity, and cost containment.
- Identify training needs and deliver development opportunities for the team.
- Work closely with the Transportation team to manage inbound delivery schedules and collections.
- Oversee and evaluate third-party logistics providers managing outsourced locations.
- Establish and coach a high performance team (HPT) consistent with Johnson Controls Manufacturing System principles.
- Implement world-class EHS and 5S programs in the warehouses with the goal of achieving zero harm.
- Maintain certification standards for Integrated Management System covering ISO9001, OHSAS18001, and ISO14001.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in similar warehouse or logistics supervisory roles.
- Thorough understanding of Supply Chain best practices.
- Proficiency in English with additional knowledge of Indian languages considered an advantage.
- Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally and effectively influence stakeholders.
- Demonstrated management of logistics service providers.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to handle internal coordination and management briefing.
- Proactive mindset with a strong drive to complete projects timely and successfully.
- Capability to prioritize tasks effectively under pressure.
- Energetic self-starter with strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
- Experienced in managing, developing, and motivating team members.
- Attention to detail with a customer-focused and analytical approach.
- Competent with MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, and experience with ERP systems such as Baan, SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards is favorable.
- Hands-on operation of Warehouse Management System (WMS) and barcoding technologies.
Exclusions
Handling of finished goods and heavy equipment involving crane or forklift operation falls outside this role’s responsibilities. These tasks must be carried out by trained personnel under Factory or EHS Operations supervision.
