Role Overview
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to be based in Bremen, Germany, specializing in the Defence sector on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and prioritizing the supplier audit schedule.
- Participate in conducting quality risk assessments focused on suppliers and their supply chains.
- Contribute to supplier tender comparisons, selections, and approval processes.
- Plan and execute quality audits including system and process audits to evaluate suppliers' capability.
- Oversee First Article Inspections (FAI) and trial order monitoring across projects.
- Manage production process approvals at suppliers, working closely with relevant project/product PQM personnel.
- Engage in Production Readiness Reviews and First Article Inspections as required.
- Drive supplier development efforts alongside Procurement, advising on improvements from audits.
- Analyze and report on suppliers' quality performance status.
- Perform duties such as planning quality capability evaluation for supply chains, supervising quality monitoring for supply chain localization, and improving process standards for quality assessment and documentation.
- Define and clarify quality requirements including quality assurance agreements and manufacturing specifications in collaboration with line management.
- Ensure suppliers’ readiness for series production by performing manufacturability assessments, APQP, series production approval, and FAI approval.
- Support and conduct capacity analysis at supplier locations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master’s degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Certified supplier auditor per VDA 6.3 standards.
- Practical experience or advanced knowledge in manufacturing plant, mechatronic and optical equipment, PCBs, wiring harnesses, or software development.
- Fluency in both English and German (verbal and written).
- Multiple years of experience managing suppliers, especially in conducting supplier audits.
- Strong familiarity with at least three of these standards: DIN EN ISO 9001, VDA maturity assessment, Automotive SPICE, APQP, PPAP, measurement system analysis, machine capability, lean management, project management.
- Self-motivated with a results-oriented and autonomous approach.
- Confident communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Excellent intercultural skills.
- Willingness to undertake global travel as necessary.
