Category Manager - CAPEX

Role Overview

We are seeking a commercially focused procurement expert to join us as a CAPEX Category Manager, playing a pivotal part in our Procurement & Supply Chain transformation. This position is crucial for overseeing major capital investment ventures from initial design stages right through to delivery, involving close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and senior leadership to convert plans into operational achievements.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading procurement procedures for significant CAPEX projects from conceptualisation and design through to completion and handover.
• Collaborating with project managers, engineering, and operations teams to devise sourcing plans that effectively manage risks, costs, and schedules.
• Crafting and implementing CAPEX category strategies aimed at maximizing value, ensuring supplier resilience, and boosting performance.
• Facilitating complex tendering activities and negotiating contracts with suppliers in construction and engineering sectors.
• Establishing strong, cooperative relationships with senior stakeholders while maintaining strict adherence to procurement governance and standards.
• Formulating a comprehensive company-wide procurement strategy for CAPEX projects.
• Driving continuous improvement in capital project procurement and delivery methods, embedding best practices throughout the business.

Candidate Profile

• Extensive experience in strategic procurement focused on CAPEX and construction-related categories.
• Demonstrated success working on medium to large, complex capital projects in partnership with project managers and technical specialists.
• Strong expertise in commercial and contractual matters, including handling multi-stakeholder tender processes and familiarity with NEC and ICE contract forms.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills paired with a collaborative and partnership-oriented style.
• A proactive and change-driven approach, with confidence to challenge constructs and pursue optimal outcomes.
• Capability to assess a diverse business landscape and develop a strategic, priority-driven procurement approach aligned with organisational goals.
