Position Summary

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) role is a senior leadership position based onsite in Kampala. The individual in this role will be responsible for defining and driving Jaribu Consult LTD’s technology vision and implementation roadmap. Key duties include overseeing software development activities, steering product development, ensuring that technology initiatives align with business aims and client expectations, and leading technical teams. Daily tasks involve mentoring engineers, establishing coding and architectural standards, reviewing project timelines, and guaranteeing the delivery of high-quality technology projects on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor technical teams to promote collaboration and accountability.
• Define and execute the technology vision and roadmap consistent with business goals.
• Establish and enforce coding and architectural standards across projects.
• Oversee software development and product development operations.
• Review project plans and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to shape IT strategy and evaluate emerging technologies.
• Manage technology budgets and uphold strong security and compliance standards.
• Represent the technology division in client interactions and support sales pre-engagements.
• Drive continual enhancement across all technology processes and practices.

Candidate Qualifications

• Extensive experience in software development and system architecture, including designing scalable, secure, and maintainable platforms.
• Proven skills in project management involving planning, resource allocation, risk mitigation, and overseeing complex technology initiatives.
• Expertise in IT strategy formulation and product development to align technology solutions with business objectives and maintain competitive advantage.
• Successful leadership of cross-disciplinary technical teams, nurturing a culture focused on learning, collaboration, and responsibility.
• Deep understanding of modern software development methodologies, cloud services, security protocols, and integration techniques.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making abilities, capable of translating technical details into business insights.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related disciplines; advanced degrees or equivalent professional experience are advantageous.
• Previous experience in senior technology leadership within consulting, technology services, or similar sectors is preferred.
