Position Overview
This full-time remote role supports Special Operations training efforts for the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) at Hurlburt Field, Florida, contingent on contract award. The Curriculum Developer is pivotal in designing, maintaining, evaluating, and enhancing training programs that improve the preparedness and operational capabilities of Air Force Special Tactics teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and refresh Special Tactics training curricula and materials, ensuring alignment with Department of Defense standards.
- Utilize Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methods to develop diverse learning modalities including classroom, virtual, and blended instruction.
- Produce detailed lesson plans, instructor manuals, student guides, training aids, and relevant documentation.
- Perform curriculum research and assessments to pinpoint areas for enhancement.
- Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts and military leadership to guarantee technical accuracy and mission focus.
- Develop measurable instructional goals, assessments, and performance evaluation tools.
- Adapt and update existing curricula to meet evolving operational demands and incorporate learner feedback.
- Offer support for both resident and distance education as needed.
- Ensure all training materials comply fully with DoD instructional standards and quality guidelines.
- Assist in curriculum modernization efforts and continuous quality improvement processes.
- Engage with stakeholders to verify training effectiveness and alignment with strategic objectives.

Required Qualifications
- At least five years experience in instructional design or curriculum development supporting Department of Defense training programs.
- Proficient application of Instructional Systems Design principles.
- Demonstrable experience developing military-relevant training content such as lesson plans and instructional documents.
- Exceptional technical writing, editing, and documentation capabilities.
- Skilled in curriculum research, evaluation, and continuous program improvement.
- Competence in creating instructional objectives and performance-based assessment tools.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills managing multiple concurrent priorities.
- Ability to collaborate with military leadership, instructors, and operational SMEs.
- Active Secret Security Clearance required.
- Fluent English proficiency (reading, writing, speaking, understanding).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
- Self-directed work capability in remote settings with adherence to deadlines and deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related disciplines.
- Experience supporting Air Force Special Operations Command or equivalent special operations units.
- Familiarity with the ADDIE model and other ISD methodologies.
- Experience developing blended, distance, and virtual learning formats.
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and digital training technologies.
- Background in competency-based training program development.
- Previous experience as a Department of Defense contractor.
- Acquainted with military doctrines, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
