Key responsibilities

• Develop, support, and fine-tune Excel-driven tools, reports, and dashboards.
• Use VBA macros to automate repetitive and time-consuming tasks.
• Work with large volumes of data and translate them into useful insights.
• Build data models, pivot tables, and advanced spreadsheet formulas.
• Create interactive dashboards with Power Query and Power Pivot.
• Maintain data quality, validation, and integrity across outputs.
• Connect Excel with external sources such as SQL systems, CSV files, and APIs.
• Investigate and fix issues related to Excel and VBA automation.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand needs and deliver practical solutions.

Required skills and qualifications

• Strong capability in modular VBA development, including reusable procedures, class modules, and structured error handling.
• Deep understanding of the Excel object model, including workbooks, worksheets, ranges, and events.
• Hands-on experience with event-based automation such as Workbook_Open and Worksheet_Change.
• Ability to improve VBA performance through techniques like controlling screen updates, managing calculation behavior, and using memory efficiently.
• Experience working with large datasets using arrays, dictionaries, and reduced loop dependency.
• Practical knowledge of database connectivity through ADO/DAO and SQL integration.
• Exposure to automating other Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, with VBA.
• Strong understanding of data transformation and normalization methods.
• Knowledge of refresh automation and dependency management for data workflows.
• Good debugging habits, maintainable coding practices, and version-control discipline.

Preferred background

• Prior experience in reporting or process-automation roles.
• Familiarity with Power BI is an added advantage.
• Exposure to business operations or MIS reporting is preferred.
