Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads a dedicated engineering team to sustain, enhance, and expand manufacturing processes for neurovascular products within a regulated medical technology setting. This role ensures process reliability, product quality, capacity optimization, cost control, and service performance throughout the manufacturing lifecycle, all while adhering to quality standards including site systems, EU MDR, ISO 13485, and where applicable, FDA 21 CFR Part 820 / QMSR.

Collaborating closely with Operations, Quality, R&D, Process Development, Supply Chain, EHS, and external partners, the manager drives new product introductions, validation, automation, investment in capital assets, and continuous process improvements to support safe, compliant, and efficient production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage assigned Manufacturing Engineering teams, including performance assessments, resource prioritization, hiring, mentoring, and supervision.
  • Promote effective communication and positive employee relations within the department, adapting management style to fit situations.
  • Build a high-performing Value Stream team fostering open communication, engagement, inclusivity, trust, and teamwork culture.
  • Recruit, develop, and coach engineering professionals, supporting continuous learning and performance excellence.

  • Set clear performance objectives aligned with operational excellence, measuring outcomes related to product quality, customer service, spending, labor efficiency, and yield; take corrective actions when needed.
  • Provide leadership for process improvements and resolving obstacles, coordinating resources and collaborating cross-functionally as part of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Coordinate with business and site management peers to meet lean manufacturing targets including cycle times, efficiency, space utilization, and scrap reduction.
  • Lead development of manufacturing expertise in problem-solving using Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Contribute to Integrated Business Plan contract deliverables via input on process technology decisions.
  • Work closely with R&D to ensure new products and processes launch compliantly, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Manage departmental budgets and capital expenditure approvals.
  • Represent the function during periodic business metric reviews.
  • Initiate cross-functional initiatives to identify and solve production or engineering challenges.
  • Provide out-of-hours support as required for shutdowns, projects, quality issues, or equipment failures.
  • Collaborate with other business functions, vendors, suppliers, and sister sites to support daily operations and business goals.
  • Maintain relationships with technical leaders at sister sites and R&D.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement aligned with company Quality Policy, Quality System, and regulatory requirements, ensuring employee training and documentation compliance.
  • Adhere to site Quality Management System standards at all times.
  • Stay updated on relevant technological advances, overseeing specification and procurement of capital equipment balancing technology and investment return.
  • Plan and execute process and equipment validations as per company requirements.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in relevant engineering or science disciplines such as Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronic, or Production Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in a team-oriented, regulated manufacturing environment, including 5+ years in senior or managerial roles.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, FDA regulations, and current Health and Safety legislation.
  • Proven success in driving improvements in manufacturing performance including yield, scrap rates, cycle times, quality, capacity, and cost efficiency.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management capabilities; Lean and Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to confidently make decisions and influence others.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Collaborative team player with adaptable management style.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.
