Role Summary

This position spearheads financial analysis and modeling efforts for power and desalination projects globally. The role involves supporting multiple project finance and M&A transactions annually, aiming towards eventually leading such deals independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and validate intricate financial models per international standards, incorporating applicable accounting and tax practices.
• Conduct thorough due diligence, risk assessments, and develop mitigation measures related to financing structures including debt, equity, and guarantees.
• Participate in internal approval workflows, liaising with teams such as credit, legal, integrity, management, and board members.
• Ensure timely financial closure via proper legal documentation for all deals.
• Model financial scenarios for power, desalination, and industrial wastewater treatment projects under development.
• Contribute to structuring Power Purchase Agreements with prospective offtake customers.
• Assist with project financing and M&A engagements involving third-party investors, lenders, and tax equity providers.
• Collaborate closely with development, operations, EPC, and interconnection teams.
• Deliver strategic financial insights and market evaluations specific to power, renewable energy, and desalination sectors.
• Analyze project documents to interpret their commercial and contractual effects, particularly for financing frameworks.
• Maintain current knowledge of completed projects and evolving industry best practices.
• Scrutinize contract documents to ascertain deal requirements.
• Optimize project tax structures and integrate relevant accounting and tax modifications into financial models.
• Perform detailed financial analyses on projects.

Qualifications & Skills

• A graduate degree specializing in finance, economics, or another quantitative discipline.
• Between 1 to 5 years of experience in financial modeling or transactional roles within the energy and desalination sectors.
• Prior experience at a leading independent power producer (IPP), utility, renewable energy developer, or investment bank, preferably within the MENA region.
