Material Planner

About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Material Planner to play a vital role in supporting major shipbuilding projects at our Henderson shipyard. This position is essential for ensuring materials are procured and available precisely when needed to avoid delays and maintain smooth production flows.

You will collaborate closely with procurement, production, and warehouse teams to plan, monitor, and coordinate material supplies throughout the entire ship build process, aiming to minimize shortages and help achieve on-time delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and update material plans that align with production timelines.
• Guarantee the timely provision of all necessary materials for shipbuilding tasks.
• Keep track of inventory levels, potential shortages, and forecasted material demand.
• Work with procurement to accelerate delivery of critical components.
• Monitor material progression from purchase order through delivery and allocation to production.
• Collaborate with production teams to prioritize and schedule material needs efficiently.
• Detect risks to material availability and apply solutions to prevent any disruption to production.
• Maintain precise records within ERP/MRP systems regarding material data.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in material planning, supply chain, or logistics roles, preferably within shipbuilding, manufacturing, construction, or heavy industry sectors.
• Good knowledge of MRP and ERP software systems.
• Ability to analyze production plans and bills of materials.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills with keen attention to detail.
• Proven communication skills and ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
• Previous involvement in Defence or substantial infrastructure projects is advantageous.
• Understanding of shipbuilding or large-scale fabrication processes.
• Relevant supply chain certifications such as APICS or equivalent.
• Experience with inventory optimization and demand forecasting techniques.
