Business Unit Overview

The Network Engineering team serves as both the architect and guardian of the network systems underpinning our core connectivity products. The group is responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of production networks to ensure optimal performance and reliability for our customers.

Role Purpose

The Network Engineer's main responsibility is to guarantee the seamless functioning of Superloop’s domestic and international Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks, ensuring superior performance and uptime. This position is tasked with developing, supporting, and maintaining all network hardware and related services within our network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and deploy scalable network infrastructures.
  • Monitor network performance closely and optimize where needed.
  • Manage network capacity to align with growth and performance goals.
  • Ensure the operation of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks is stable, performs well, and offers high availability.
  • Interact with customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to address and resolve escalated network faults.
  • Diagnose and remedy hardware and software issues utilizing TAC support, lab testing, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Manage lifecycle, capacity planning, and optimization of diverse network topologies.
  • Maintain thorough technical documentation including low-level and high-level designs, concepts of operation, and network diagrams.
  • Coordinate activities around network commissioning, migration, and decommissioning.
  • Perform risk assessments related to the network and uphold contingency and procedural documentation.
  • Implement network security policies across projects and day-to-day activities.
  • Keep abreast of the latest industry trends and best practices.
  • Foster strong collaboration with NOC, Provisioning, and Pre-Sales teams.
  • Ensure prompt communication and response within all channels.
  • Adhere strictly to all workplace health and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Telecommunications, Data Networking, or a similar field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in network engineering, design, or advanced Level 2 support roles.
  • Solid knowledge of IP networking concepts including IPv4/IPv6, routing protocols, and switching technologies.
  • Familiarity with IP/MPLS technologies such as IS-IS, BGP, LDP, RSVP-TE, L2VPN, and L3VPN.
  • Proven experience supporting and troubleshooting network solutions in either service provider or enterprise environments.
  • Competency in applying structured troubleshooting methods to resolve network faults.
  • Experience utilizing network monitoring and operational management tools.
  • Strong skills in producing accurate and clear technical documentation and designs.
  • Ability to comply with change management procedures and perform network modifications safely.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with both technical experts and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Attributes

  • Prior exposure to service provider network environments.
  • Hands-on experience with vendor platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or Fortinet.
  • Understanding of technologies like EVPN, Quality of Service (QoS), and subscriber management.
