Ophthalmic Science Practitioner

Role Overview

This position is based within the Ophthalmic Imaging & Diagnostics department at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. The department provides extensive imaging services to assist in measuring, diagnosing, monitoring, and treating various eye conditions across all ophthalmology sub-specialties. The department is currently undergoing growth and advancement, including the introduction of virtual clinics across multiple Manchester locations.

This role offers the chance to develop expertise in multiple ophthalmic imaging techniques within a dynamic setting, supported by an experienced and dedicated multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a high-quality imaging service to patients using diverse ophthalmic imaging methods such as ultra-widefield (UWF) imaging, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) with Angiography, visual field testing (Humphrey and Goldmann), and visual acuity assessments.
• Take patient histories and administer eye drops as needed.
• Conduct advanced diagnostic procedures, including Fundus Fluorescein Angiography, Indocyanine Green Angiography, intraocular pressure measurement (Goldmann Applanation Tonometry and iCare), anterior segment OCT and imaging, and corneal topography.
• Perform related administrative duties to support clinical workflows.
