Role Overview
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is seeking a Programme Architect on a full-time, fixed-term contract through June 2027, based in Wellington City. This leadership role involves directing architectural initiatives for the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) transformation and the innovative Exit Marshall Smart lane (EMS) programme, which enhances the border experience for international travelers with seamless digital screening.
Key Responsibilities
The Programme Architect will provide strategic oversight across these initiatives, coordinating with programme and project managers to ensure architectural coherence while managing risks, requirements, and dependencies. This position combines technical direction with strong relationship management, negotiation, and influence to facilitate organizational change and stakeholder engagement.
Candidate Profile
Candidates should bring substantial experience in architectural leadership for large-scale programmes, demonstrating the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, adapt messaging, and influence decisions through effective negotiation. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills are essential, alongside the capacity to manage diverse technology domains and drive collaborative outcomes.

Security and Eligibility Requirements
