Position Summary
The Quality Engineer will be based in Idaho or Arizona, supporting quality management at various supplier locations and job sites. This role focuses on complex, longer-term projects with significant design/build engineering and on-site client engagement, primarily servicing global accounts and major engineering and construction firms for municipal clients. The engineer collaborates closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Technicians, customers, vendors, and suppliers to uphold and enhance Peterson Power’s product quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and distribute quality documentation to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Develop and implement quality best practices across all partners.
- Ensure suppliers meet established equipment quality benchmarks.
- Partner with clients and Caterpillar to evaluate supplier quality performance.
- Support Sales and Operations teams in quality-related procedures and tasks.
- Assist Project Managers with start-up and commissioning documentation.
- Manage project issue logs, conduct inspections, maintain quality records, and compile final reports.
- Conduct shop and site testing, plus quality inspections of equipment.
- Provide technical quality and commissioning support to suppliers, vendors, customers, and Sales as needed.
- Respond promptly to customers' quality concerns under Quality Manager guidance.
- Use multiple software tools such as CxAlloy and SharePoint regularly.
- Conduct supplier quality assessments and audits when required.
- Perform End-Of-Line inspections on client equipment.
- Generate and submit quality reports to the Quality Manager.
- Carry out audits of quality management systems at suppliers on behalf of customers.
- Travel up to 50% for visits to customer sites, vendor and supplier facilities, and Peterson Power offices.
Professional Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a closely related field from an accredited institution, plus at least 5 years of quality management experience within the construction industry, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Preferred possession of quality certifications such as Certified Quality Inspector, Technician, Engineer, or Six Sigma Green/Yellow/Black Belt.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
