Duggan Brothers (Contractors) Limited, established in 1923, is one of Ireland's most respected building contractors with expertise across commercial, healthcare, educational, residential, and industrial developments. Currently, they are undertaking the Portlaoise Garda Divisional Headquarters refurbishment and expansion project, transforming the existing Garda station into a modern facility serving the Laois-Offaly Division. This includes constructing a new three-storey office block on a former army site and significant renovations within a historic fort.

Role Overview

The Site Engineer position is permanent and full-time based in Portlaoise. The role involves supporting the Site Manager and Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery of the project through precise site management and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update detailed site documentation and drawings.
• Interpret technical designs and communicate them effectively to site personnel.
• Coordinate and monitor construction activities ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
• Engage with consultants, subcontractors, architects, and planners to facilitate smooth project delivery.
• Supervise subcontractor and workforce tasks daily to optimize productivity.
• Manage site logistics and equipment utilization to enhance efficiency.
• Ensure quality control measures, Building Control Amendment Regulations (BCAR) compliance, and enforce health and safety protocols.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and adhere to all regulatory standards.
• Promptly identify and address technical challenges and on-site issues.
• Develop work schedules that meet project milestones and deadlines.
• Deliver work that aligns with specifications, timelines, and maintains safety and quality standards.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum three years of experience as a Site Engineer within the construction sector.
• Relevant qualification in Construction Management or a related field.
• Self-driven, proactive, and highly motivated with strong initiative.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proven track record of managing projects from start to finish successfully.
• Attention to detail with outstanding decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Thorough understanding of construction methods, standards, and regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment fostering positive relationships.
