The Role

We are on the lookout for a seasoned Software Developer proficient in Go (Golang) and AWS to become an integral part of our skilled technology team focused on deploying contemporary cloud-native applications and backend services within an AWS framework.

This position emphasizes crafting, developing, and maintaining scalable microservices, serverless applications, and API-driven solutions by leveraging Go and AWS-native tools. Working in close partnership with architects, developers, DevOps professionals, and business stakeholders, you will drive the creation of secure, dependable, and efficient software products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and uphold backend services and microservices using Go (Golang).
  • Develop and manage serverless applications utilizing AWS Lambda alongside other AWS services.
  • Architect and fine-tune data models and query patterns using Amazon DynamoDB.
  • Create and sustain RESTful APIs and event-driven software components.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD workflows leveraging GitLab CI/CD.
  • Engage in solution design, architectural deliberations, and critical technical decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to achieve business and technological objectives.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews promoting best software engineering practices.
  • Diagnose and address challenges related to performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Generate and update technical documentation and design records.
  • Provide ongoing operational support, troubleshooting, and root cause analyses in production settings.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven commercial experience programming with Go (Golang).
  • Solid practical knowledge of AWS cloud environments.
  • Experience in architecting and supporting serverless solutions.
  • Proficiency with core AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, and S3.
  • Deep understanding of microservices and distributed system designs.
  • Experience designing and integrating REST APIs.
  • Skilled in using GitLab for version control, branching, and CI/CD automation.
  • Knowledgeable in software engineering best practices, testing strategies, and writing clean code.
  • Strong grasp of NoSQL database architecture, optimization, and scale.
  • Background in Agile software delivery methods.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, adept at stakeholder interaction.

Desirable Experience

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of event-driven systems and messaging platforms such as SNS, SQS, EventBridge, or Kafka.
  • Experience in observability, monitoring, and logging infrastructures.
  • Previously contributed to large-scale data migration including data transformation and reconciliation.
  • Experience with cloud governance and analytics tools like Augur.
  • Relevant AWS certifications.
  • Work history within consulting, enterprise, or government sectors.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Between 5 and 15 years of experience in software engineering, backend development, or cloud-native application engineering.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering production-quality Golang software solutions in AWS settings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative approach and dedication to excellence in technology results.
