2nd-6th Grade Math Specialist

Position Overview

Head-Royce School in Oakland, California, seeks a 2nd-6th Grade Math Specialist for a full-time role commencing in August 2026. This position supports the enrichment and differentiation of the Lower and Middle School math curriculum through direct student pull-out programs, teacher collaboration, and curriculum development. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct student pull-out sessions once or twice weekly per 2nd-6th grade math classroom to provide enrichment and remediation aligned with teachers' identified student needs and maintain weekly records of these activities.
• Consult with classroom teachers regularly to assess support requirements and recommend suitable enrichment and remediation resources.
• Observe math instruction and offer constructive feedback and coaching to teachers to enhance instructional methods.
• Collaborate with administrators and faculty to analyze CTP/Milestones assessment data, design instructional strategies, and generate summary reports for school leadership.
• Participate in Lower and Middle School division meetings, grade-level discussions, and math department gatherings as necessary.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the math curriculum alongside the math department and contribute to ongoing curriculum development efforts.
• Deliver professional development sessions on math differentiation and related instructional tools such as Youcube.
• Engage in research on best practices in math education to co-create curriculum spanning Upper Elementary through Middle School.
• Develop and facilitate engaging K-8 math experiences, including estimation challenges and participation in events like the Julia Robinson Math Festival.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education.
• At least 5 years of primary elementary teaching experience.
• Solid academic foundation with experience in multicultural education and ecological literacy awareness.
• Genuine enthusiasm for working with elementary-aged children.
• Advanced degrees in education are a plus but not required.
• Must clear background screening, TB test, and comply with SB848 requirements.

Compensation and Additional Information

The salary range for this role is $76,600 to $130,998 annually. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as the school does not sponsor visas. Compliance with background and health screening processes is mandatory.
