Role Summary
The BIW (Body in White) Design Engineer will be responsible for managing design and development tasks related to automotive passenger vehicle body structures using CATIA V5 and PLM tools like Teamcenter and Enovia. This role involves supporting projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring compliance with OEM product development milestones and global BIW engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehend and fulfill project requirements aligned with program milestones and OEM product development gateways.
- Provide end-to-end project support, including Quality Function Deployment (QFD), benchmarking, feature analysis, creating engineering drawings and models, and releasing them for production.
- Assist in CAD support for engineering proposals in collaboration with internal and supplier experts.
- Coordinate with system engineers to release drawings and 3D models accurately.
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BoM) for projects.
- Apply global BIW engineering and E7 design standards in development activities.
- Conceptualize, design, and develop BIW, closure, and underbody sheet metal components.
- Support CDMM and implementation teams in part development and quality improvement initiatives.
Experience and Skills Required
- Professional experience ranging from 3 to 9 years in BIW design and development, preferably in automotive passenger vehicle sectors.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 modeling software.
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools such as Teamcenter and Enovia.
- Knowledge of global BIW engineering standards and sheet metal component design.

Location and Work Arrangement
The role is based onsite in Chennai, India.
