CAD Design Engineer - Contract Remote Role

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Senior FreeCAD Engineer to join a pioneering engineering initiative focused on advancing AI systems. This position involves applying your mechanical design expertise through parametric CAD modeling to help enhance AI models' capacity to solve complex engineering challenges. Prior experience with AI is not necessary; a strong technical foundation is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, adjust, and verify detailed parametric CAD models using FreeCAD tailored to project needs.
• Design and refine mechanical assemblies ensuring optimal integration of components.
• Implement Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) along with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) standards to guarantee product manufacturability and quality.
• Generate precise technical drawings, engineering documentation, and ready-to-manufacture designs.
• Conduct thorough engineering quality assurance evaluations on CAD models and technical drawings to confirm accuracy and compliance with design criteria.

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Minimum of two years’ professional experience in mechanical engineering or related fields with a focus on parametric CAD modeling.
• Expert-level knowledge of FreeCAD or an equivalent parametric CAD software.
• Deep understanding of mechanical design best practices, including GD&T and DFM.
• Proven experience in producing detailed manufacturing documentation and technical drawings.
• Background in performing engineering quality assurance and ensuring CAD data integrity.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proven ability to work independently within a remote, project-based setting.
