Role Summary

The Cloud Engineer will design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure to support various business needs. This role demands collaboration with engineering teams, stakeholders, and delivery leads, emphasizing technical expertise combined with a structured, accountable approach to project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and manage cloud infrastructures aligned with business requirements.
• Create and manage cloud resources, ensuring consistency and integrity across different environments.
• Configure, implement, and upgrade cloud services and their associated software.
• Conduct regular maintenance activities such as backups, patching, and system updates.
• Monitor cloud system performance and optimize resources to enhance efficiency.
• Formulate and execute strategies for scalability and capacity planning.
• Implement robust security policies including access controls and encryption methods.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Perform security assessments and vulnerability testing routinely.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance and connectivity issues.
• Document cloud service processes and procedures comprehensively.
• Collaborate with software developers to integrate cloud services seamlessly with applications.
• Communicate complex technical details clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams contributing to planning and delivery.
• Provide on-call support for critical cloud operations as necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2 to 3 years of experience managing cloud operations and deploying cloud services.
• Proficient with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure-as-code principles and relevant tools.
• Experience scripting and automating tasks using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Familiarity with monitoring and log aggregation solutions to detect issues proactively.
• Understanding and application of cloud security best practices and controls.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities for complex technical challenges.
• Certifications like AWS Cloud Practitioner or Azure Fundamentals are advantageous.
• Additional experience with Python libraries (pandas, pyspark) and scripting is desirable.
• Knowledge of programming frameworks such as React and Flask is beneficial.
• Experience with R programming is a plus.
