Data Analyst

Overview

This contract role based in New York requires a skilled Data Analyst to support complex data flows and integrations involving Aladdin, a leading investment platform. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing inbound and outbound data interactions across trading systems, custodians, and market data sources while ensuring data integrity throughout migration and platform transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and manage inbound and outbound data flows related to Aladdin, ensuring smooth integration with trading platforms, custodian systems, and market data providers.
• Validate data transmissions between Aladdin and external applications to confirm accuracy and completeness.
• Conduct data validation, reconciliation, and quality assessments on trade data, positions, holdings, and valuations.
• Develop and run complex SQL queries to identify data discrepancies and verify transformation processes.
• Support checks for data completeness, consistency, and accuracy across different datasets.
• Understand investment lifecycle operations, including distinctions between Investment Book of Record (IBOR) and Accounting Book of Record (ABOR) reconciliations.
• Analyze Aladdin's interaction with accounting platforms during system migratory or replacement activities.
• Review Order Management System procedures including pre-trade control mechanisms.
• Create and keep updated documentation such as source-to-target data mappings, data dictionaries, and data lineage artifacts.
• Record assumptions, issues encountered, and resolutions regarding data integrations.
• Collaborate with data engineering, integration teams, and business stakeholders to support testing of ETL pipelines and API/file-based integrations.
• Troubleshoot data breaks, interface failures, and reconciliation mismatches, coordinating cross-team resolutions.
• Engage in agile methodology ceremonies while partnering with business users, technology groups, and vendor teams to address ongoing data needs.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proficient understanding of asset wealth management and securities trade lifecycles, including exposure to IBOR and ABOR concepts.
• Knowledge of the Aladdin data model and related workflows, with experience supporting data migration and platform transformation initiatives.
• Strong expertise in SQL for constructing complex queries and performing data reconciliations; familiarity with Excel and Python for data analysis is preferred.
• Experience working with ETL tools, data warehouses, and API integrations.
• Competence in data profiling, quality evaluation, and analyzing reconciliation discrepancies.
• Strong data governance practices and comprehensive documentation skills.
• Excellent analytical ability, problem-solving aptitude, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills enabling collaboration between business and technical teams and a proactive ownership attitude.

Experience Level

The ideal candidate will have approximately 8 to 10 years of relevant experience, preferably within asset management programs or comparable investment account platforms such as Simcorp or Portia.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in large-scale Aladdin implementation or migration projects.
• Exposure to custodian system integrations and market data feed management.
• Participation in data platform transitions, especially involving legacy Aladdin environments.
