Role Overview

We invite a motivated and analytically skilled Working Student Data Scientist to contribute to the Aircraft Configuration Management team at Airbus in Hamburg. This opportunity targets Master’s degree candidates in Data Science, Computer Science, or related disciplines seeking industry experience. Your role encompasses managing and refining aircraft configuration data and collaborating cross-functionally to develop data-centric solutions. Expect to engage in the full data lifecycle, conduct sophisticated data modeling, and apply machine learning methods to solve real industrial challenges. This position balances academic learning with practical exposure to data engineering, business analysis, and AI implementations supporting Airbus initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Master the complete data journey, from initial capture in Product Data Management tools to utilization within Airbus’s Skywise Big Data platform, ensuring data integrity and availability.
• Develop advanced data models that capture complex aircraft configurations accurately, underpinning configuration management processes.
• Engage with business units to collect requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications aided by knowledge of configuration management.
• Build and maintain efficient data pipelines using SQL and PySpark to facilitate seamless data processing and integration.
• Ensure dataset reliability and continuous monitoring to support informed operational decisions.
• Leverage machine learning and AI technologies, including Generative AI and Large Language Models, to optimize workflows and enhance data analysis in aircraft configuration tasks.

Candidate Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time Master’s student specializing in Data Science, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
• Proficient in SQL and PySpark programming languages.
• Strong understanding of Big Data architectures and systems.
• Foundational knowledge in Machine Learning; familiarity with Generative AI and LLMs considered an advantage.
• Analytical thinker with a capacity to convert business needs into technical requirements, demonstrating a proactive approach and genuine curiosity for aviation.
• Fluent in English; German language skills are beneficial.
